Paperwhite Desktop Garden

Your Paperwhite Desktop Garden comes as a kit with easy step-by-step instructions and a are guide. 

Your Paperwhite Desktop Garden kit will include:

3 Paperwhite Bulbs – Paperwhites are a variety of Narcissus that are generally grown inside for fragrant winter blooms.

Bamboo Planter – A reusable planter made of sustainably sourced bamboo, and includes planter liner and tray. Planter is approximately 5” x 5” x 5”.  

Aeration Mat – A green aeration mat made from recycled bottles to be placed at the bottom of the black planter liner. This mat helps keep oxygen available to the plants’ roots, which is crucial for their growth and development.

Custom Foundation – The Gardenuity Foundation is custom blended seasonal compost, full of nutrients for your bulbs to thrive.

Horticultural Sand – For adding to the top of the soil to help keep gnats away from your flowers. 

Decorative Moss – Decorative moss surrounds your bulbs on top of the soil for additional aesthetic.

Mister Spray Bottle + Orange Scoop – To use for keeping the soil moist and for watering your garden!

Plant Stakes + Clips – Your Paperwhites may need a little extra support as they grow. Place the plant stakes in the garden when the shoots are 8-10 inches tall. Loosely attach the bamboo stakes to the plant with the clips.

When your plants arrive, take them out of the box as soon as you can. 

Printed care cards are included in each kit.

PLANT CARE:

{icon_sunlight}LIGHT{/icon_sunlight} Set your garden in a cool place away from the direct sunlight (50-65 ℉ is ideal). Once per week, tug gently on the bulbs to see if they have begun to produce roots. When your tug is met with firm resistance, (usually 2-3 weeks after potting) move your planter to a sunny window. Rotate the garden every few days to help keep the stems growing straight.

{icon_watering}WATER{/icon_watering} Check the bulbs frequently and water when the potting mix is dry 1” below the surface. Watering should occur approximately once per week until the bulbs begin active growth. Once the bulbs are in active growth, they can easily dry out in 1-2 days. Remember to keep the soil moist but not wet or soggy.

{icon_petfriendly}TOXICITY{/icon_petfriendly} Keep your paperwhite bulbs out of reach of your furry friends. Paperwhites are toxic for both dogs and cats.

{icon_additionalInfo}ADDITIONAL CARE{/icon_additionalInfo} Paperwhites have lots of lovely, fragrant white blooms and may need a little extra support as they grow. You can support them with the two bamboo stakes and clips supplied with your kit. Place the bamboo stakes in the garden when the shoots are 8-10 inches tall. Loosely attach them to the stakes with the clips.

Paperwhites generally have blooms for 2-3 weeks. Once your paperwhite bulbs have produced buds and have begun to flower, move them out of the direct light to a spot with indirect sunlight. (Hot, direct light can cause the blooms to deteriorate at a faster pace.)

Trim dead blooms to promote healthy growth.
